First Session Interaction Plan

Getting Started Open Beta v0.9 ruleset Updated July 12, 2026

Use this page when you want the actual click path, not just the rules. The goal of the first session is to get from account login to a settled colony, understand the main screen, and know where the first decisions live.

1. Pick a realm

After login you land on the realm board. Realms are grouped by tab, and each row shows the realm name, join policy, tick rate, player count, and your action button. If you are not in a realm yet, the primary action says Join. If you already belong to it, the same position becomes Play.

Click Details when you want to inspect a realm without entering it. Click Join or Play when you are ready to open that realm.

2. Place your first colony

Joining an open realm puts you into placement mode on the map. Type a colony name, then click a valid land position. The Confirm button stays disabled until you pick a spot. Water, occupied, or otherwise invalid positions are rejected, so use the map view and minimap to choose land with room around it.

Once confirmed, the realm opens as your normal command screen. From this point on, the colony belongs to this realm only.

3. Read the command screen

The command screen is the map plus persistent controls:

  • The top HUD shows current resources, tick number, countdown, and your commander name.
  • The left sidebar opens the main surfaces: Map overview, My Colony, the squad Roster, the Battle Simulator, Intel, Players and Alliance, Messages, and Chat, with settings, help, and your profile under More.
  • The minimap in the lower left gives you a world-scale position reference.
  • Clicking anything on the map opens an action menu at the click point and the target's detail card with its stats and deeper actions.
  • The bottom command feed records realm messages and gives you access to communications.

In a new colony, follow the advisor prompt first. It points you toward the correct opening action: start your colony build queue so resources begin compounding.

4. Open My Colony

Click the colony icon on the left rail to open My Colony. The default Overview tab summarizes worker state, structures, resource storage, current production, conquests, and the advisor's recommended next action.

Your first useful action is usually an economy structure. If the advisor says to queue Farm level 1, follow it. If a structure is blocked, read the blocker row before spending elsewhere.

5. Open the squad Roster

Click the Roster icon on the left sidebar to open your squad cards. These are floating cards you can drag anywhere on the screen: the roster lists your squads, movements, agents, outposts, and conquests, and selecting a squad opens its detail card for composing and ordering it. A fresh colony starts with no squads.

You do not need to create a squad before you have units to assign, but this is where movement starts once recruitment finishes.

6. Use in-game help

Open Help from the left sidebar's More menu to read the wiki without leaving the realm. The in-game wiki uses the same Classic ruleset pages as the public wiki, but it stays inside the command screen so you can read and return to play.

First-session checklist

  • Choose a realm from the realm board.
  • Join and place your colony on land.
  • Read the top HUD, minimap, left sidebar, and command feed, and click something on the map to meet the action menu.
  • Open My Colony and queue the first economy structure.
  • Open the squad Roster so you know where unit grouping and movement will happen later.
  • Use Help whenever you need the wiki while staying in the realm.

After this, continue with the New Player Guide: build economy, claim rewards, recruit modestly, scan, and expand only when you can afford to hold the ground.
